Mommy's Me Time

My friends and I often share stories and swap notes about being a mom and there’s one thing that we all agree - that being a mom is the toughest, hardest, most difficult job in the world. And I cannot stress that enough. As a mom, we put our family first, the kids and the husband before ourselves. It’s a 24x7 job and there’s no quitting. Once a mom, you already have the responsibility to take care of someone else other than yourself.

As a working mom, when my office work ends, my mommy duties start. In my other post, I’ve mentioned that we currently do not have a house maid yet. My hubby who currently stays with the kids is cool enough to share a few chores. Even so, I still have to manage to do bulk of the household chores.

With all the buzz that’s happening at work, projects and to-do lists that never end plus the endless chores at home, moms also need to have time to rest. Whether you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, you need some time away from it all. Most moms feel guilty even at the thought of wanting to have their own time.

I believe it’s really necessary to love and take care of ourselves to be able to give more love to our family, take care of everyone and do our job with more joy. It’s not being selfish nor asking too much. We, too, are humans and must have our much needed rest.

For me, me-time does not have to be 24 hours of rest. I just need a couple of hours by myself or with my girlfriends… in my case now here in KL, girl friend.

My most recent me time is a salon getaway with hair treatment, manicure and pedicure. Being a spendthrift that I am, I got this deal from Groupon. I also won’t spend too much for myself even if I am an advocate of mommy's me time.

The salon is called De Culture Saloon and the package includes colouring, treatment and hair cut. Because the stylist assigned to me does not talk much in English, I spent a couple of hours of quiet time which I enjoyed.  Only thing I didn’t like is that they don’t know the layered hair style I wanted. Anyhow, to continue, I also had manicure and pedicure. It was my first time to try the gel mani-pedi and it’s really pretty, it’s shinier and very quick too. Yet, I don’t think I’d do it again next time. It was nice trying it though.

Well, your me time could be a night out with your friends or something else. Do whatever it is that relaxes you or makes you feel rested. As moms, we deserve to love ourselves too.

~Nice~
